Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey...Already Drama.
Well that didn't take long! The race to be crowned queen diva of American Idol is already on.
During their first taping of the talent reality show on Sunday in New York, newcomers Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are said to have talked over one other in a bid to be the most vocal judge.
The drama began when 29-year-old Super Bass singer Nicki starting critiquing a contestant, but despite it being her moment to reign, Mariah, 42, couldn't resist butting in on several occasions.
She was also asked if she had discovered any talents yet, to which she replied 'Yep!'
And when quizzed over whether she is a mean judge, she simply quipped: 'Hahahaha!'
Meanwhile, Mariah tweeted: '#idol NY auditions - several classic moments so far lol'.
The news was released on Twitter yesterday as the American Idol account tweeted: 'It’s official! Your Season 12 Idol judges are Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban.'
Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment for Fox, released a statement saying: 'Nicki’s an unbelievably captivating phenomenon who has made an indelible mark on rap and pop.'
He continued: 'Keith is another great addition to Idol - he’s one of the biggest stars in country music and I know that our fans and contestants will fall in love with him.
'With an unparalleled star like Mariah, fan-favorite Randy, chart-toppers like Nicki and Keith and our incomparable host Ryan, we’ve put together one of the most exciting judging panels around.'
